Counting the minutes

FedEx tested my sanity yesterday, but in the end they really came through for us.  A series of unfortunate events caused our overnited package to not be delivered at the time it was supposed to be delivered.  After several very frustrating phonecalls, I was blessed to talk to a wonderful woman named Tina.  She was very kind and understanding.  She let me cry (a little) then went to work to fix the problem.  After several more phonecalls, Tina was able to find a courier service to pick up our package at FedEx and drive it (an hour) to the family who is hand delivering it to Edik's country.  The family received the package at 8pm last night and then flew out this morning!  We made it by the skin of our teeth:)

Earlier in the day yesterday I tried to explain to a "customer service representative" why it was not ok for our international adoption papers to sit in one of their facilities for 5 days.  I'm not really sure what I said then, but what I really wanted to say was this...

There is a precious baby boy waiting in a crib in a room with 4 walls with many, many, other cribs and babies.  He is only touched when he is fed and changed.  He does not cry because he is not used to being held. He lays in his crib and he waits day after day. He does not know that he is loved and chosen and precious to our family.  Please understand that we cannot let him be there one minute longer than is absolutely necessary.  We are counting the minutes until we can hold him and whisper in his little ear;

"you are ours and we love you."

There is so much more to this great big world than a crib in a room with 4 walls.  We can't wait to share it with you!

  1. Beautiful words!!! You planned in the hearts of those you talked with to resolve this time sensitive the tremendous love of a mother!! That family relationships are tremendously important!! What an example!!
    Having worked in some orphanages in an Eastern European country, I know exactly what these beautiful children experience. There is not a day that goes by that you and your families adventure isn't in my thoughts and prayers! I know without a doubt you will experience many tender mercies of a loving Heavenly Father!!
    Can't wait to hear more and find ways to help from a distance!!
    Much Love!
